I wish you did it on a darker color tub to show if it covers in one coat. Painting a white tub is useless.
I used your roll-on product on my vanity and I had fish eyeballs everywhere. I ended up replacing the vanity top.
Should have given us a call. Customer service team would have been able to help you Fix it.
I have a crack in the interior of a tub where the sidewall meets the floor. There is a little bit of play with it im wondering if you recommend just sanding before touching up or might take a different approach?
Hi, thank you for commenting. Yes we typically recommend sanding first to level the area out and you can use an all purpose Bondo depending on the size of the crack. If you would like further guidance please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278! We are happy to help.
Great job guys
How do i repair if by accident i let it dry too long and the drain is covered?
Thank you for reaching out. Ekopel dries very durable and extremely thick. We try our hardest to inform our customers of how important it is to not let allow ekopel in the drain. I would recommend trying to use a razor blade if it is just above the drain, however if it has gotten fully dry and the razor blade isn't working this may a plumber. Unfortunately, you may need to call a plumber if it seems its gone down the drain fully. If you need any more help or advice please give us a call at 877-882-2278
Thanks for reaching out, i actually cleared it out before it completely dried up it hasn’t gone down the drain so that’s a great thing. I ordered the touch up kit and watched your video on re-pouring Ekopel, so I will follow that after I sand down the are surrounding the drain. Anything else you recommend?
I have the kit and it states to use sand paper. You did not use sandpaper. Which is correct? Also I used this on a shower stall already and will be buying more to do a roman tub. For the shower I noticed after 30 min it started to get thick and by 45 min could not spread anymore. Why does it have such a short pot time. I can not work that fast to do a good job and this roman tub will be bigger than the shower stall. Any suggestions on getting the product to stay flowing longer? I thought maybe working when the humidity is more near 50% ?
Thanks for your questions! Sanding is recommended as part of the prep process to help with adhesion, but the key factor is ensuring the surface is thoroughly cleaned and deglossed before application. Regarding the working time, the thickening you experienced is due to the chemical reaction between Part A and Part B-Part B is the hardener, when they are mixed that chemical reaction begins. This is just how Ekopel works, and the pot life is typically around 45 minutes. For a larger project like a Roman tub, I would recommend our roll on kit as it is a much easier application. It still has that chemical reaction however it is a directly rolled on two coat process.
Live in Oregon where can i purchase?
We are running all of the pro lines through the new team structure with bathtub guys right now. If you call Danny at BTG he has been working hard building up our network of installers
Are you looking at roll on or spray? The spray version is available through BTG, but if you would like a roll-on sample we'd be happy to send one out. Feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278!
Hi I bought the 30 tub package for pros....spray application. Your product was the first tub refinishing product i ever used. In fact, i bought my first HVLP just to spray your product and the finish was great. Its a great product, but one thing that is a setback for me is the dry time. It takes at least 3-4 hours before it dries. I dont want to wait around or have to come back the next day just to caulk the tub. Also, how do you touch up with this product? Any suggestions would be very appreciative. Thank you.
You can caulk it before you spray if your spraying, or do a 2nd day service. It’s a 24 hour cure product so there is no other good option there. For touchups I would mix a very small amount and dab quick with your finger, a foam brush, or a foam roller. I can only see your username and am not sure what location your with but if you want to send me an email at pfoley@refinishedbathsolutions.com I can also share or BTG management packet. That is how we are building our network and growing as you can see in this video. I think it would be great to get you added to this.
Why dont you show the whole process??? Sanding, cleaning, etching? You mention a primer in the comments, what? Does primer come with the kit?? Is there a video, start to finish plus caulk removal??
Thanks for your comment! This is an older video, and since then, we’ve made a few updates to our instructions. Primer is no longer necessary, and we now have more detailed videos covering preparation, including sanding, cleaning, and etching. I’d recommend checking out the updated content on our channel as well as the instructions on our website for the most current guidance. If you still have questions or need assistance, feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278, we'd be happy to help!
How toxic is this product? I’m curious about soaking in tub??
It’s not toxic. It’s a 0 voc product.
Hi there. I appreciate your product and time you put into how to apply the application to the tubs. A few years back, I purchased a kit from you to use on my tub that had been pained three times by a previous contractor. After the paint failing after a year or less each time, I found your product. I purchased the kit from Amzon and i have to say the process of application was not difficult at all and the tub still looks great from when I first applied the application. I really dont know why people would not like your product. Thank you again for sharing and stay well!!
Thanks for the kind words and support! It’s really appreciated.
My husband and I are in refinishing business (mostly commercial and apartments). I don’t understand why any other business is hating on you guys. I find Daniel’s podcast educational for me as I don’t spray but have 7 techs who do. It helps me understand the techs better. I was interested in tub cast to purchase but I totally understand if it’s exclusive go Tub Guys. Wish you guys much success 🎉🎉
Nothing like tub cast for commercial projects. We are getting hate from other manufacturers and existing pros that can’t see past the nonsense they are fed. Ever since we broke into the pro side of things we have been shaking up the refinishing world. They are scared that this is the end for their brands. To help build a stable national network We are adding existing companies to the BTG network. If you are interested in tub cast there is a spot for you and your team. We have some great opportunities and our goal is to help build exclusive strategic partnerships with strong businesses. Feel free to reach out to me or Daniel anytime if you want to talk about what we have planned. Thank you for your encouragement!
Glad to know that the podcast helped you! I remember when Michelle from alliance and I got you started in hotels a little while back! I’m going to make a podcast and say names because that’s my platform and I can do want I want but there’s just some industry veterans that clearly feel threatened by what’s happening. Young guy comes and shakes things up and they down play and fear monger to the industry and claim there needs to be tests in their corporate sponsored lab 😂. We have offered all skeptical parties to do side by side tests and haven’t gotten a response 🤷♂️ At the end of the day everything I do is in service of helping others it’s why we’re successful. I don’t want to sell poison anymore, I don’t want to pretend my products are durable enough for what we’re applying them on anymore, I don’t want to exchange pleasantries with people who aren’t honest actors anymore. We are going to revolutionize this industry.
@@RefinishedBathSolutions I saw the post on one of the groups I follow about Danny and Daniel when I read the comments I told my husband how crazy due to me listening to Tub Guys podcast on every episode.
@@BathTubGuys Yes, you have been on the podcast for a while now. Yes, you did help me break into the hotel industry. We did a few tubs for a Marriott 5 minutes from my house a few weeks ago. We mostly work with multi housing here in AZ. I don’t comment much on your videos because I listen to them while I drop off my kiddos to 3 different schools. It has really helped me not get frustrated with our guys as much as you touch on common problems that can arise. You’re doing great Daniel and are an example of true leadership in this industry at such a young age.
Hi I have colored tub. Can I get 3 coats out of the 1 kit that I bought? If so how? Or do I need to order another kit for a third coat
No your best bet would be to apply a coat or 2 of kilz primer to cover the color first then do your 2 coats, or get 2 sets and roll 3 coats and save the last one.
@ omg it came out soooo good!!!!!!!! I’m gonna order another kit to do another coat because you can see the blue the TINIEST bit in bright lighting . If it wasn’t for my OCD I’d leave it as is lol what an incredible product!
How often does this process need to be repeated? What’s the lifespan of application?
If properly maintained it will last as long as a new acrylic bathtub
criminal demon you should be in prison
Now hit it using the edge of the lid
You mentioned early on in the video that you'd return with the "slip-meter" test. I didn't see it on two of your videos that mention it. Did you post it? Thanks for the great info.
This is what I used on my old rusty metal tub. Bondo to fix the big rust spot after grinding it clean. Sanded smooth. Then white Ecopel, followed all instructions. 5 years later, still looks brand new. Best $ I ever spent. It was so easy and no fumes.
That's amazing to hear, thank you for sharing your feedback! Great to know Ekopel did the job and the process went smoothly for you. If you’ve got more projects down the road, feel free to reach out at 877-882-2278. We are happy to help!
I am about to try this today so this video was helpful, thank you! I did all my surface prep yesterday according to the instructions in the box which said to sand and then scrub with Lysol after. So I was surprised to see you recommend doing it in the opposite order as a pro tip. I hope it doesn’t make too much of a difference. But if it really is better - a friendly suggestion to please update the instructions that come with the kit accordingly!
Thank you for watching and good luck with your project! The order of prep steps can vary slightly, as long as the surface is clean and well-prepped, you should be good to go. If you need any guidance please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278! We are happy to help.
I just finished my tub using pour on; the finished surface is uneven. I wish I knew about the roll on!
Hi, thanks for commenting! It is possible to sand and recoat with roll-on. If you are interested or need any guidance please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278. We are happy to help!
Hi. It’s possible use this product to apply to the ceramics walls and may a use a sprayer gun air system?
You can't spray epoxy like this - it would ruin your equipment
Hey man why ya’ll don’t post anything more? I use to watch all of them Videos. Lemme know if you need editor ( Professional one ) I could be of help making exclusive content.
Does this work on tiled countertops if I want to just paint them white?
Thank you for commenting! We actually no longer have the specific countertop kit but our Roll-On can be used on tile. If you have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278! We are happy to help.
Great video! I have a few paint chips on the top corner of my tub. I’m trying to find the spray can but I’m not seeing it in your shop/website. Are you guys not selling those anymore? I ended up just purchasing a touch up kit
Thank you for commenting!! We did discontinue the spray touch up kit, I apologize. If you have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278. We are happy to help!
@@RefinishedBathSolutions Gotcha. I assume the process using your touch up kit would be more-or-less the same except it's being brushed on. Do you suggest using a foam roller perhaps? Since the brushing would probably lay down thicker, would you say the bondo is still necessary to get things level?
DId one kit do the shower walls and the tub?
Thank you for commenting! One bathtub surround kit covers up to 100 sq ft, providing enough material for two coats on both the tub and the surround. If you have any other questions feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278. Thank you!
Would it hurt to hit it with some 80 or 120 grit sandpaper, im guessing not but just thought id ask.
Hi, thank you for commenting! We actually recommend sanding out any imperfections you may encounter, 220-320 grit is best for this. Depending on the size of the affected area, you can use an orbital sander as well. If you have any other questions or need any guidance, feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278! We are happy to help.
My tub was previously reglazed. I sanded a lot off and have the rest feathered out. Should I be priming first? It was a bathtub refinish company that resprayed the tub about 20 years ago. I’m confident in my prep but any concern about re-activation of what’s left of the old finish?
Hi! Primer is not necessary. As long as all loose areas of the previous finish are removed, and the unit is properly prepped, Ekopel can be applied. Any unlevel areas can be filled with an all purpose Bondo. If you have any other questions feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278, we are happy to help. Thank you.
2 mistakes. Remove all trim. 2 remove silicone caulk.
Hello, Yes we do recommend removing all caulk as Ekopel does not adhere to silicone whatsoever.
i have a cheap tub, and it chipped off and exposed some rust. will this cover the rusty area
Hi, thank you for commenting. Yes! We recommend removing as much of the rust as you can with 100-220 grit and an orbital sander. You can also use CLR, just be sure to completely rinse it off the surface as any residue will cause adhesion issues. If you have any other questions feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278!
not gonna say why not to use drill mixing at all
Hi, we advise against electric mixing as it can cause bubbling and fisheyes. Ekopel has to be hand mixed for it to work properly. If you have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278! We are happy to help.
Because it sucks air bubbles into the bottom which gets trapped inside the emulsion that will slowly pop out as it’s drying. Similar reason why drywall compound you never let the mixing paddle go above the top & let air in
Do you sand tub
Yes, we recommend extensive sanding with 100-220 grit using an orbital sander. This is a crucial step in the preparation process. If you have any other questions or need guidance please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278. Thank you!
Looks terrible. Can tell he really has no clue what he’s doing, just making it up as he goes.
Looks like garbage
I read i the previous comments that bleach cleaners will stain the white product yellow. What do you recommend to keep it clean and white? Will it get mildew accumulation over time?
Hi, thank you for commenting! We recommend cleaning the surface regularly with Scrubbing Bubbles and Tilex. For harsher areas like stains, we recommend Baking Soda with a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. If you have a bath mat on the surface, it should be removed and rinsed after each use. This will help keep your resurface in great condition for years to come! If you have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278.
I need to remove the old shower door frame and will have to repair a few tiles. Im thinking of using bondo, will this adhere? Or can you tell me what is the best solution fir fixing the tiles first? Also my tub & surround are a 70's brown/tan color, will 2 coats hide the color?
Hi there! An all purpose Bondo will work for tile repairs, just make sure to sand it smooth before applying the Ekopel. For colored surfaces, we typically recommend an additional coat to achieve a bright white finish. If you have any other questions or would like to place an order, feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278!
I have a plastic can and can't be bent is that a problem 21:33
Hi, thank you for commenting! We have updated our packing and it does come in a plastic pail now. If you have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278. Thank you!
I did this tonight. Followed the instructions feom beginning to eneveonce everything was done leveling it looked perfect. I closed the bathroom door went back about 2 hours later to check & the outside looked like it had been rained on! Huge splotches & drip makes EVERYWHERE! I dont understand...the inside is perfect but the outside is absolutely horrible!
Hi, thank you for commenting. The front apron/outside of the tub is a common spot for the Ekopel to struggle with adhesion as it holds a lot of soap scum and build up. We typically recommend sanding this completely level and smooth to the touch, you may need to recoat the area. Please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278 if you have any questions!
Is there a way to purchase ekopel in person and not order it online?
Hi there! Unfortunately our products aren’t available in stores just yet, you can find them on our website at refinishedbathsolutions.com and on Amazon. If you have any questions or need help with an order, feel free to reach out to us at 877-882-2278, we're happy to assist!
Can this product go over tiles
Hi, yes it can! Please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278 if you have any questions.
After warming up the bathroom do I need to leave the heat on while applying or it can be turn off once mixing the products to apply?
Hello, we recommend the room temperature to be no less than 72 degrees and no higher than 78 during the application and drying process as well. Please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278 if you have any other questions.
Good tutorial; however, this video takes forever to get to the point. In life, time is a highly valuable commodity because we can't get it back. The formula for maximizing time is the same as it's always been......complete as much as you can in the least amount of time effectively. Right? I knows this a lengthy message, but it is meant to validate my point because I could have easily ended this comment after the first sentence but I continued to blab on and on and on. So, the moral of the story is.......STOP ALL DAT DAMN TALKING AND SHOW US WHAT WE CAME TO SEE! I just lost 45 min that I cant get back. This video could have been over in 10-15 min. Intro, product reveal, prep work, brief demonstration, conclusion. Easy peazy.
Nice follow through! Ekopel2k, "Touchup kit video" next, maybe?
For a small chip is it necessary for bondo?
Hi, we do recommend using an all purpose Bondo to help level the area out before using Ekopel. If you have any other questions feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278! We are happy to help.
So clean, remove all colcking then reglazed with this product then RE COLCKING right ?
Correct! We recommend removing all previous caulk and re-caulking once the application is done. If you have any questions or need further guidance please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278! We are happy to help.
Will the pour over version of the tub refinish coating stick to water or oil based enamel primers or lacquer etching primers?
Thank you for your comment! Primer is not necessary for Ekopel; however, if you feel it would be beneficial, some of our customers have successfully used Kilz Original Spray Primer. A dust coating will suffice. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 877-882-2278. We’re here to help!
Reason i ask is i had to repair the overflow drain hole and now i have bare metal on the inside of tub that im wondering about. Will Ekopel stick to bare metal?
Hi, yes it will. Please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278 or send photos of the issue to emma@ekopelusa.com I am happy to discuss further.
Hi, is this product appropriate for fiberglass tuubs and surround?
Hi, yes it is! We do have a bathtub with surround roll-on kit. If you have questions or need any guidance please feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278!
Can you use just roller instead ? I just want to refinish wall tiles?
We do have a roll-on product which is perfect for tile walls! Please take a look at our website or give us a call at 877-882-2278. Thank you!
Why can't you just roll it on with roller without pouring it?
We have a roll-on product designed just for this! If you’re looking for a solution that doesn’t require pouring, this might be perfect for you. Feel free to give us a call at 877-882-2278, and we’d be happy to help!
What are you charging for that job, application
Thank you for your interest! We are the manufacturers of Ekopel, and while we don’t provide the service directly, costs can vary depending on the size of the unit and your location. I recommend reaching out to a local refinisher for a more accurate quote based on your specific needs!
no plastic dust going every where unprofessional
